- Description: The Effects of Blue Light: Fact or Fiction is an introductory course related to blue light and its effect on sight, the human body, food, and pharmaceuticals. This course will explain the factual information and data that have been collected about blue light. It will also address some of the myths and effects yet to be scientifically proven. The goal of this class is to help those participating understand how to discuss blue light, its effects, and properly apply it in lighting design.
Course: FUNDAMENTALS OF LIGHTING – 1 LU-HSW CREDIT
- Description: This course provides an overview of the fundamental principles of lighting and introduces today’s latest advancements in lighting technology. Topics covered include general lighting terminology, lamps and ballasts, solid-state lighting technology, light, vision, and color, electrical, and optical control.

- Description: This course provides an overview of the basics of tunable white lighting and the available approaches to tuning, mixing, and controlling tunable white systems. Topics covered include types of tunable white, approaches to tuning/mixing and control, as well as emerging segments within the tunable light space.

Course: UNDERSTANDING CCT & COLOR METRICS FOR LIGHTING – 1 LU-HSW CREDIT
- Description: How to accurately measure and quantify correlated color temperature and color rendering has been a topic of discussion for decades. The new TM-30-15 method from the IES addresses many of the shortcomings of the old single metric CRI system. In the past, several other metrics were investigated and implemented with limited results. Now TM-30 applies the latest in color science and measurement techniques and features both numeric and graphic outputs that help better interpret the results in real-world applications.

- Description: This class will review how lighting is applied to make buildings healthier for occupants by meeting WELL standard requirements. It covers all aspects of lighting, including how electric lighting and daylighting can be used together to meet the WELL standard requirements. It also covers how lighting controls can play an important role in meeting the WELL standard.

- Description: This course is designed to educate designers on the need for Life Safety Solutions. It provides an overview of the most common Life Safety Code(s) as well as a comprehensive overview of various lighting solutions to meet Life Safety code, and a methodology to layout your next Life Safety Lighting project.
Course: SECURITY LIGHTING FOR PEOPLE & PROPERTY – 1 LU-HSW
- Description: Security Lighting for People and Property is designed to address security lighting in various commercial areas in the marketplace. This course will help identify when security is an issue and present an understanding of how our eyes adapt to light in dimly lit or dark areas. It will also help define ways of designing lighting to meet the safety and security measures in place by many existing, as well as new, commercial spaces.

- Description: Our eyes can play tricks on us when it comes to color and how the eyes adapt. Lighting designs are affected, positively and negatively, by this. Understanding basic vision science and how the eye perceives colors of objects and the environment, are important elements in design considerations. Comprehending color metrics that are used with conventional and LED sources will allow for a more thoughtful technical and artistic approach to the design.

- Description: This course is an objective discussion and overview of the 2022 ASHRAE 90.1 Energy Standards for lighting control provisions as it is applied to projects of a commercial or industrial occupancy. Course: ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING WITHOUT LIMITS – 1 HSW CREDIT
- Description: This course illustrates the latest development in dynamic lighting and how different variations of dynamic lighting can be utilized when planning and designing any space. Dynamic lighting can be utilized to enhance spaces, most importantly influencing human health through mood, energy, productivity, and relaxation. Course: 0621-Let’s Clear the Air with UV-C – 1 LU/HSW
- Description: ASHRAE Standard 241 calls for buildings to implement technologies targeting the control of indoor airborne pathogens and provides long-awaited, actionable guidance for reducing risk to occupant health. Designing and upgrading buildings and building operations to meet the Standard is a matter of public health, but also stands to improve a building’s competitive position in the market, support return-to-office initiatives, improve customer experiences, and increase operational resilience in the face of future threats. This course explores the effectiveness of various building system upgrades toward achieving recommended targets for mitigating the transmission of airborne pathogens, explains why experts consider UVGI the essential engineering intervention for compating the spread of disease indoors, and details the benefits of integrating UVGI into architectural lighting systems. Attendees will be able to use this knowledge to make informed decisions as to the most cost effective building upgrades for creating healthy spaces.

Course: 30-Plane Lighting-Understanding Our Reponses to the Lighting of Architectural Surfaces – 1LU
- Description: An examination of physiological and psychological responses to the lighting of architectural surfaces. Advantages of asymmetric luminaires in creating impactful, uniform lighting effects are also explored. Topics: Physiological and psychological responses to illuminated surfaces and spaces; considerations for relating light sources to their target surfaces; attributes of asymmetric luminaires; and factors influencing our perception of uniformity.

- Description: This learning unit explores the visual and psychological connections between architectural lighting and human preference. Although most occupants of a space don’t understand why they prefer one space over another with differing lighting designs, this program outlines specific factors to consider for improving the emotional connection within an interior space. Proper application of lighting placement, distribution, brightness ratios, acoustic materials, and LED color spectrum can result in aesthetics and physical comfort that exceed occupant expectations.
